Breaks pulling? What to do??

Hi all,

I tried the search (please know I did... I put in breaks, break pulling, breaks pulling and I got nowhere...I am not sure what I am missing with the search) so here I am.

I have a new 2010 sport manual RX8 with 6500 miles on it. I notice when I am stopping at a light or stop sign that as the car slows down-almost stopped- it feels like it is pulling the steering wheel about 2 inches (it would pull that far if I did not hold it straight but I can feel it pull).

Any thoughts? I have never had a car with this type of steering (Direct-drive electric) so I do not know if I have a problem or just something new to get used to.

I LOVE this car!!!

Thank you all for your thoughts!

My first thought is that you have a warped rotor on both or one of your front brakes...

VERY difficult to actually warp one of our rotors.
My initial thoughts are:

- alignment
- seized caliper

Since you have a 2010, you should still be under warranty, have the dealership take a look at it.

I wouldn't normally bother (my spelling is not the best either) but he did it four times and it was the reason his search failed .

It's actually very difficult to warp any (Street) cars rotors. http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...rakedisk.shtml

Brakes pull? Check the wheel alignment

Seems nuts, but my car was pulling to one side too even after a full bleeding. Bad alignment was my only problem. Mothin drastic, just a little out in toe, caster and camber. It developed slowly so it was a while before I really even noticed.

Good luck.

I drove my 8 for about one year and your miles, and even found the top speed several times (125), but the brakes weren't even bedded in when I took it to it's first HPDE for it's one year birthday.

I can drive hard and not use brakes up especially since it's not a daily driver, but the instructor had a hard on for getting the last bit of time by late braking, and they had that nice strong brake smell after her demonstration run.

The brakes even had a lot of plastic like material (some people wipe off with solvent) that made them pulse and stayed around for about another year and a few HPDE's.

Your brakes need some tough love to make sure they're bedded in, so on a warm day drive it hard on the highway and have a few panic stops until you smell the brakes, then drive it gently home, and then see what's up the next day when cool.
