This could also apply to S1 owners, but we are lacking in the S2 department so I figured i'd post it here. So how exactly do YOU estimate if you are going to scrape or not? This could be for those of you who are lowered, or even the ones who are not that like to be super cautious?

I can usually tell at first glance if a speed bump or something is going to tear up my undercarriage, but this comes from a couple of mistakes with my old car and a low hanging cat back heh. If i am in a private area (aka my parents driveway which is on a slope) then I usually have my gf or my brother stand outside and monitor as i slowly creep up to make sure nothing is about to scrape.

My R3 is pretty low, but i haven't had any problems with scraping. I just avoid really big speed bumps and steep ramps, but i don't have aftermarket anything.

 

I just accept it. My spoiler is already all mangled from me hitting a concrete rail tie at the head of a parking space and a mechanic putting the car on a lift. I'm thinking of spinning the front coils up a half inch.

I am wondering if being lowered actually helped me recently as far as hitting animals. I've hit 2 racoons in as many days, one of which took out my underbody shroud under the passenger oil cooler as well as a few other plastic pieces. the parts guy quoted me 250 bucks plus install. The cooler/lines were unharmed if u can believe it.

 

1) dont go in to any plaza...park roadside..
2) if u see a speed bump, reverse and take another route..
3) if u really need to go foward, take the whole road....ppl WILL honk at u but screw them....they arent the one paying for the damage...go slow...

i refer to cutting inclines at an angle as hitting them "jdm" style. I do it for pretty much all bumps and rises in the road in the r3. I actually scrape my side skirt on my driveway at home

 

Haha when i first installed my coilovers and didn't know if i would clear the speed strips at work, I was pretty much doing that. Its funny because the people on the other side of the road freak out because they think you are driving into their lane and not paying attention.
