back when i had my lancer, i was on the "projectlancer.com" forum and they had a thread called -member profiles- and the basis of it was to allow each member to have there own exclusive thread that they could update with the progress of their car, and people could go straight to them and ask questions about their car on that thread. it was a huge hit on the lancer website and everybody had a thread of their own. it was nice having members subscribe to your thread and it was very informative.

and the next suggestion was to have a "Ride Of The Month" at the beginning of every month people can submit 4-5 pictures of their car with a small biography on it including mods and at the end of the month people can vote for who's ride they liked the most. then that next month their car can be advertised on the home page. out of the 4-5 pictures the owner will pick one to be his "main" picture and that one will be the displayed.

just thought i would try and help make the forum more exciting!!

I REALLY like the idea of having an entire subforum where people can dedicate threads to the progress of their own car. There are so many 8s on this forum that look fantastic, and to click into a thread and view the car from stock to today just sounds really cool.

This would greatly help in reducing the clutter in the Multimedia section, as the majority of the threads in there are just user's "updates" on how their car is coming along, or "I just got my 8, here it is". Instead, that can turn into "I just got my 8, and I'll update this thread to show how it comes along".

Can't think of a single negative to the project thread idea. I think Ride Of The Month has been brought up a couple of times before, don't really have an opinion.

 

thanks for the support, in my project thread i would usually leave the original name as say "9Kbeep's winning blue project, (updated 10/27/10)pics included" thats how i updated my project thread. it was fun to see many peoples car go from bone stock to the way they sit today.

Project thread is a great idea.
I am working on a '67 Austin 1100 on the weekends and it would be nice to have a place to put the pics in. ( I am putting a 13b-msp, rear drive conversion ) Big f-n job, but all i've got is time.

Hell this is a GREAT idea people!! It would even (hopefully) stop threads like "hey, i wana mod out to lok like da shizzzzz" threads. Newbs can just click on a car they like and ask away!!

I won ride of the month on projectlancer last year and I love that idea! What happen with projectlancer? I try to sign in but it says my username is not available anymore or something like that!?... bet yes, let gets this idea going, please!!

 

project subforum is a great idea. but it wouldnt be a month before it was just as cluttered as any other section, with dozens of I just bought this mad tite car yo, i'm gonna put a 2JZ with 7 turbos and a supercharger it it yo! Stay tuned for updates. Oh and can some one tell me how to do that?

And these threads will eventually fall down to page 2 while the real mod enthusiasts/photographers constantly update their own threads. Think about it, if you had your own "project thread" you'd almost go out of your way to take sexy pictures of your sexy car to flaunt on the forums. Don't we all want to see more sexy cars?

 

I really like the project forum thread, it gives everyone a place to browse and look at a lot of cool cars.

For the project sub forum:
lock new posts, and have a request move to project forum thread.
Or Post count required to post there.
Or just moderate it...

 

I would love this kind of thing, I have a stock RX-8 right now, but many parts are waiting for me when I get back, and i'd love a built thread or project thread of the sort..
