Finally drove 1, 1 question

Hey guys, I've been in the market for awhile now for a sports coupe and I test drove a 2010 8 today and I'm hooked. I've been reading as much as I can about them but I still have one quick question. First off I live in new Orleans and it was about 90 degrees today with 90% humidity, drove the car about 10 miles in light traffic and some back roads. When we got back to the dealership and I turned the car off, the fans ran for a pretty long time before they cut off..maybe 5 min or so? Is that normal? I never had a car before where the fans kept running once the car was turned off. Just curious. Anyway as long as the financing gets worked out I should be picking the car up Friday. Both my brothers used to have rx7's so I think they'll be jealous once they see this one.

Interesting, both of my current cars have electric fans and they don't run with the car off, but my yamaha fz6's fan will. Must be normal for this car then.

It's completely normal. In fact, if my fans don't stay on, i feel like i didn't have enough fun in it.

Yeah fans stay on. I think some fans are quieter than others too, but the 8s fans are pretty loud. After you kill the circulation of water (turn engine off), engines just get hotter. The fans just supplement that to try and help cool it down.

It never causes a battery issue or any problems.

Yes, don't worry. My 1975 VW Rabbit did the same thing! Perfectly normal.

You had a Rabbit where something actually worked? Amazing!!

Fan running after shutoff is normal on some cars. My '87 Accord did, but my wife's '86 Accord (same series) did not.

The fan on my '80 Rabbit did not run after shutdown. I was fortunate that much of the time if it got hot while running the fan would come on.
