Mazda MX-5 to get a ROTARY option?

I posted this info on Miata.net yesterday. I think what they are seeing/hearing out of Mazda Japan is probably R&D for a future rotary (RX8, RX9?). The only connection to MX-5 would be shared architecture in my opinion, which is the case currently with the 8 and MX-5.
