Anyone else ever have 6th gear completely go out on them? It just won't go in (no pun intended)!

If I double clutch and/or rev match it from 5th or any other gear it gives me the nastiest grind

Taking it into the dealer sometime soon. Any thoughts?

 

it's the only gear giving you problem?
probably a synchro issue.

and to answer your question: Nope, never had a gear go completely out on my RX8. My last transmission grinded like hell into 2nd and 5th at high RPM's (obviously 5th was harder to replicate) but if I granny shifted, it would engage the gear without grinding.

 

I assume you got it replaced? Did they take it apart and rebuild it or gave you a new transmission?

1st is a bit wonky to get into at times, like I have to force it in. And 4th won't go in over 7,500 rpm without grinding. And 6th won't go in even with the car off...

Car still has powertrain warranty, 5yr/60k

They replaced my transmission, this was almost 3 years ago

 

are you using the AFE? did you check to see if the ball joint at the bottom is worn or cracked? same thing happened to me when mine failed.
