Thank you! I've been waiting for this post! I've never been to any road race event in person. I only really got into watching road racing after doing the 2-day Mid-Ohio High Performance and Advanced High Performance class several years back.

That link is not working for me. I've tried two different OSes (Ubuntu Linux and Windows 7) and three web browsers (IE 8, 32-bit), Firefox (32-bit), Firefox (64-bit Linux), and Google Chrome (64-bit Linux). I get a Mid-Ohio page but the frame in the center where there should be data is nothing but white space.

However, I was able to go through the normal links on their home page to get to the Mazda owners ticket purchase page. Looks like the full URL is getting truncated by this forum software.

We are working on a one on one w/Patrick for this event. We are also looking into an opportunity for our Mazda owners to be a crew member for @ day with SpeedSource on race day. The positions are assisting the tire changers, Deadman (open the fuel valve) and Lollipop Man (sign holder). We are doing a test run @ LRP later this month to see how it goes.

I will keep you all informed and updated with the progress of the corral.

I'm a happy camper! I managed to find a closer place to stay, and it's even less money than the Ashland Holiday Inn Expressway I was able to find a couple of months ago. I got the "Thunder Valley" room at The Paddock Inn Bed & Breakfast, 1.5 miles from the track. No 45 minute drive each way from and back to the hotel each day! They told me they still have the China Beach room available from the 17th to the 20th, if anyone still needs a room. http://thepaddockinn.com/Home.php

As this is my first time ever attending a road race event in person, does anyone have any recommendations for what I should bring, what I should prepare for, etc.? I'll be bringing the standard camping chair, sunscreen, camera, cooler with food and water, umbrella, blanket to sit/lay on. Anything else? Any general words of wisdom?

Also, I'm curious where we Mazda people will be parking. Will we be directed somewhere once we arrive at the track to be with the Mazda group for parking?

Another quick question: I plan to watch the qualifying laps. Do they report somewhere at the track where spectators can see or hear what the times are for each driver and car?

I used to work corners at the races. Prepare for any kind of weather. This is the MidWest and the weather can change at any minute. I hope a winter coat or rain gear won't be necessary. I get tired out by being out in the sun all day. I find a sport drink, Gatorade is my fav, at the end of the day perks me up.
Many tracks broadcast their PA announcers on a local (track) radio station. Scour Mid-Ohio's website to see if they also rebroadcast. I have a scanner that I listen to the corners and car frequencies (800 mHz band) to keep up on whats going on. If you need a complete list of times there is a Grand-Am trailer that has copies available. These are mostly for the competitors, so don't rush up to get them right after the session is over.

I ordered my ticket and got a campsite if anyone wants a place to rest their head for the night.

We have a tent with table and chairs like last year, so if we do have a down pour, we do have some shelter. When entering the track, they'll direct you to the infield parking, the corral will be on your right after crossing the bridge.

On Saturday, Joe Foster of Dempsey Racing will be stopping by the corral @ 9:30AM. At 11:30 AM, the parade laps start, we'll have a total of two laps around the track. The drivers meeting starts @ 10:45, as we'll have to sign waivers etc.

At noon, Will Nonnamaker of Team Sahlen will be stopping by the corral to answer questions and check out your cars. We are finalizing the rest of the schedule as soon as we have confirmation from some of the ST Teams, we'll post the schedule up.

Thanks,
Marlon

One of my iRacing buddies is camping, so I may be wandering through the camping area at some point.

I will. I will be driving throughout the night to get there at 7AM Friday.

One of the ads that came with the tickets was for Buck's Bar & Grill. I thought I was told that place burned down. Did they rebuild or was I told wrong? I haven't been to Mid-Ohio in something like 20 yrs.

Is the Mazda corral going to be set up all three days, Friday through Sunday? It sounds like it, but I figured I might as well ask to be sure.
