Intake sucks oil at high speeds.

While driving at high speeds, around 170/180, my car suddenly lets out a horrible cloud of smoke(unsure of the color) and loses throttle response. I pulled over the first time it happened and noticed a large amount of motor oil around my intake filter.

This has happened twice so far, as as such I'm terrified of the autobahn now. I rarely drive faster than 150 anymore.

Anyone have any ideas about this one?

Check your OMP... and your coolant levels from time to time.
Have you refilled your oil recently?

I check my oil every time I refuel. The last oil change was performed by Mazda while I was deployed. They also checked and refilled all fluid levels.

I said to check your levels because smoke may be caused by some fluid leak, be it oil or water.
See if there's fuel in your water and check your OMP. Then keep an eye on the levels and pray god

I've had oil in the intake previously. It was caused by a clogged catalytic converter. It could be getting hot and closing off, creating the slowdown. Run it hard and see if it begins to glow.

Haha yea right. You know me. No smelly german is going to force me to put a cat back in. I had to remove the tint on my windshield and front windows and put electric tape over my puddle lights to get it to pass inspection. Fortunately they held the sound measuring device far enough away that I was barely under the decibel limit.

I'll probably take it to a Mazda dealership here and let them have a look at it. I'm going to the ring next month and I want to be able to have some fun on it.

Thread revival. Did the dealership find out what was causing this problem?
