Thats up to opinion, research it... many people like it, some dont, its up to the user. Theres a TON of exhausts out there, take your time and research the one that sounds best to you...

That's because a muffler takes less expensive materials than a catalytic converter. Mind you, that is an expensive pipe, but it does make sense for it to be a fair amount more than a cat back. Is there any reason you wanted that specific pipe? You could probably go custom and find a good high flow cat for cheaper.

ive been researching and i seen a video of a guy with that set up and i like the tone of it. ive seen videos of greddy and borla but it just doesnt sound the same.

a lot of people where i live just buy universal mufflers and ride around town with it hanging halfway off the car and the rx8 is too beautiful to not get the best.

so any other exhaust/cat combinations that sound really awesome but is less than 1000 total. preferably with a resonator, i dont want it too loud

It's been suggested that a cheaper alternative to a metal cat is this $138 one:

http://www.davesport.com/cgi-bin/davesport/DCAT100.html

It would have to be welded into a midpipe, but still should come in below $500.
