By the sounds of it you need to do 3 things:

1 reaserch. Use the search button up top as the start
2 realise how much this car costs to upgrade and how much knowlege you don't have
3 do the smart thing and enjoy having an rx8 at 16 and wait 2 years before you mod it

I remember when I was 19 and I bought mine fresh off the lot with everything on it. Just know have some money saved up also u ont get any high hp without a tubo. I can say the reaon why he wants u to get an auto so u won't show your *** off and wreck your car That's all. And a turbo will not blow out your automatic transmission

how about you drive it for a season and get a chance to learn about the car first. save your money and make it a winter project.

Thanks for the advice everyone. guess i am being pretty impatient.

i dont know anyone though who could work on cars professionally though and let me learn hands on instead of reading about it online.

I learned everything hands on, I helped my grandpa rebuild a 66 chevelle ss when I was 17 includeing the engine. And I will stand here and tell you that knowing what I know now there is no way I knew enought back then to mess with a rotary. Your best bet is to get a aem intake and midpipe and wait a while before you go fi.

I studied and Waited 18 months before I went fi and I was 23. There is a ton of great info to read here and it's fun. I'm not tring to sound mean but you just have o really understand the engine first

My AT RX-8 was my first car, I had it for a year and a half before I got my MT RX-8... Just enjoy the car if you can, It was hard for me since i was given my AT but idk just enjoy it. A turbo will not blow your transmisson...

Take it easy on the mods and just learn about the car before you want to mod it out... Normally I can offer more advice but i seem to be a little tired

also dont forget to use the search button and just read about the car...

FI is forced induction, super, turbo and some add nitrous but technically its not.

If I were you, and this is just opinion...

Between the header, midpipe, and exhaust, the midpipe is the most restrictive, so i would start with that and see how you like it. it would suck to get a HKS hi power and a midpipe and find out your blowing eardrums. one piece at a time stud, try a RB or BHR midpipe and intake and then go from there. Plus both of those mods can be switched over to a manual if you do swap

what part of tennessee are you from? I have only had my 8 for nearly a year, im still pretty new to the 8 world, but my dad had a few rx7's back in the day and he explained the rotary motor to me and ever since that day ive loved em. I'd feel so lucky to have an 8 at 16. Just be patient and save your money for exactly what you want, don't settle. People on this site are really helpful and will point you in the right direction

i wouldn't advise buying an AP so soon honestly. The kid is still new to the car world - i wouldn't tell him to jump into the AP. There's a lot more he has to understand first.

Especially if he's gonna be dealing with MM. i can just imagine how the first email will go

anyways - good luck kid. Read up on the threads many people have invested time into making for n00bs. Happy revving.

p.s. - i called troll on this when i first saw the thread on ispy but since everybody else bit, i did too...peer pressure.

Learning shouldn't be a problem. Open up the search feature on this forum and a google window and go to town. feel free to cycle through the threads we've already made. There's ton's of information on here that should be able to get you up to speed on everything you need to know to become more car savvy.
