TX warranty? hard start when warm

Wow this the first I've heard that the extended the warranty even farther. I'm having a tough time starting mine when warm and has a rough idle when warm. So if I were to get the compression checked and it was not good they should replace the engine?, only "upgrade" is a drop in K&N, other than that it's completely stock.

Just replaced the plugs, wires, and coils. It helped but didn't rid the rough idle when warm and didn't change the starting when warm.

as long as you're under the 100k you should be warranted. They'll probably ask for all engine oil change maintenance records/receipts.....but if you do your own like I do, you may run into trouble.

I know if it happens to me I'll find a way to show my 'receipts'

Your problem could be your cat though....warm idle/starting problems usually = cat converter problem. Could be O2 sensor as well. And possibly MAF? I don't know about that..but if your engine checks out check all of those.

Make sure your battery is fully charged. Weak battery =hard start.

That's not possible for me

I cleaned the MAF a couple of months ago but should probably check it again.

It cranks over real well but maybe I'll go have a load test done on the battery.

Also even though the engine light isn't on can they pull up codes hinting to a o2 sensor or misfire? Kinda a noob question I guess.

I also should probably do a quick check for a vacuum leak.

Oh and yeah I do most of the oil changes by myself, and when I bought the car it didn't come with a manual. The dealership near me seems to be really helpful and knowledgeable with the rx8's so hopefully if it is the motor they won't be a pain.

I'm having the same problem, car is at the dealer. They say they first course of action is replacing the starter with a high speed one, replace spark plugs and decarb the engine. They say none of this is under the extended warranty. Even though they confirmed the compression issue, they say this is what has to be done first. I say what if this doesn't fix it and have to do the engine replace anyways, are they gonna come back and pay for the starter. They couldn't give me an answer over the phone.

How should I proceed with this?

Try a different dealer; if that doesn't work, shop around for the recommended repairs at the best possible price unless you are able to do the work yourself. Then you can attempt to get them to do the warrenty work.
