I just purchased a new leftover 2009 RX-8 GT yesterday. To say that I'm happy with the car is an extreme understatement. I traded in my 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 for this car. The Speed 6 was a great car but it was starting to cost me a lot of money lately (over $3,500 in the last 4 months) and I decided to get rid of it. As a matter of fact, I was on my way to get an oil change this past Saturday and the check engine light came on. The SA told me the EGR valve needed to be replaced. Replacing th EGR valve along with the synthetic oil change would have cost me $927. While I was waiting for my car, I decided to take an RX-8 for a test drive. I thought the car was fantastic. I told the salesman that I would apply for an auto loan with the credit union. I wanted a red RX-8 but they only had silver and black. They told me they would get the car for me if a put a deposit down on the car. Instead of paying for the Speed 6 to get fixed, I gave them a $500 deposit. The dealership allowed me to take the Speed 6 home while I apply for financing at the credit union. When I left the dealership, the check engine light came back on. I decided to go back to the dealership on Monday. (Since this has happened before, I figured it was safe to drive temporarily. The check engine light was not flashing.) Monday afternoon I went back to the service department and they told me the purge valve needed to be replaced and it would cost around $400. I went to see the salesman and told him that I should have answer from the credit union on Tuesday. On Tuesday I got approved for financing and they told me the car would arrive on Wednesday. I picked up the car on Wednesday evening. The RX-8 is really an amazing car and I find myself looking for reasons to go places just so I could drive it.
My car looks exactly like this.
