Loss of power and check engine light flashing

I have an 04 with six speed that is stock. It has 38,000 miles. Today it started loosing power randomly like a loss of fuel and cel would start flashing. It would do this for a few seconds then go back to normal and then start aagain. Also will sometimes die at an idle. Doesnt register any codes and doesnt do it every time I start it and drive it. Any help and ideas are appreciated.

And coils?? I'm having the same problem at 60,000km's. (35k miles or so).

Can I just try the plugs and do the coils if need be?

You can try it but I believe 30k is around the time to start thinking about new coils.

Still waiting on coils. Got hit with snowstorm and UPS truck didn't make it over the passes from Denver. Hopefully tomorrow so I can get the car going again.

Finally got the coils and installed them. Replaced two of the spark plugs that were fouled out with some old ones I had that were still good. Didnt have the cash to buy plugs and wires at the moment, but changed the coils and those two plugs and the car is running good. Thanks to dozer for the help.
