Exclamation What is my Audio Code???

Hi all,

I've recently just purchased a RX8 cos it's absolutely FANTASTIC!
The drive is stunning, the looks are amazing and the petrol consumption is... err.... theiving?

Anyway, the problem is that I cannot switch my Bose sound system on, as it asks for a code. The climate control, etc works fine... but I can't listen to any cd's/radio, due to not having this code.

Now the Mazda dealership told me that it's normally the last 4 digits of your chassis number. So I tried this, but no cigar

So, my questions are has anybody else has this problem? and does anybody know the solution?

Cheers!!!

Hmm,

I never heard of that -- even after unplugging my car battery i was never asked for a code. I would love to know the answer to this.

How long have you had the eight, did all the audio components work when you bought it, and does your eight have all the updated flashes?

My car is from the year 2005... and I was silly, I didnt check if the audio worked, I just drove the car, n checked all the legal stuff... so no, the audio wasn't working when I bought it :-(

I read through the manual and it tells me that customers place a 4 digit anti theft code in. So what I presume has happened is that the previous owner had placed an anti theft code, which I don't know :-( Hence, I was hoping there was some universal code that over-ran the system to get the audio working.

Otherwise, I'll have to buy a new audio system.

Well, to begin with, did you buy from a dealer or private seller? They are two very different paths to travel

And to answer your question, I have never heard of this, so if anyone has, I hope they hop in to help you in an electronics way, I'll try to help you in a legal/proactive way depending on the previous question I just asked.

Hey, cheers for the notes... I bought it from a private dealer... (they're not mazda affliated) and I hope someone does get back with an answer... no doubt I'll constantly be calling the place where I bought the car asking for the code.
