First off, YES i've searched.. on here and on youtube, and I didn't find anything that really answered my question.

So this is my situation. I just bought a rp supercat from heyarnold69 (jim) and it's in great condition. I have it paired with my AP catback. I knew that the sound was going to change (become much much louder), and that's not a problem, but it seems like it's become very raspy and rattly. I've got 30,000 miles on the car and only 3000 miles on my catback (1500 on the midpipe). Anyone else have this combination with this problem? There's no leak and i had the pipe put in by my mechanic with new bolts (old gaskets).

I contacted rx7.com and they told me that they haven't heard this combination before.. So any help would be much appreciated

 

AP is already known to be loud...

when you say "rattly" so you mean you hear an actual rattle sound? did they check your heat shield when they put in the pipe?

 

i didn't ask them to check the heat shield.. no. My exhaust was hitting the frame so i tweaked it a little and now it's fine. I'll ask about the heat shield

 

ok what i'm hearing is (after closer inspection) is a kind of buzzing noise at around 5-6k rpm. Is that normal?

 

Does the RP have a hanger on it, where it meets the catback ?
