Question What mods can I get for my 2004 4 speed auto rx8?

I just bought a 2004 mazda rx8 with the 4 speed auto, and I am interested in what mods I can do. I noticed the cobb tuner is only made for the manual cars. I would like to turn my car into a quick paddle shift street car. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The Cobb can be used on the auto.

Search button is your friend.

And Cobb does come for automatic vehicles. From mazdamaniac

Same price $695 from either Mazdamaniac allows tuning.
www.mazdamaniac.com

^^^the orders from him have been known to take a few weeks to arrive, it's a real guy doing real life things, don't freak out over a short period of wait.

The Accessport is good for allowing your vehicle to run better along with the little power increase.

For the record "bolt ons" intake exhaust. Will not give you redicolous amounts of power increase. The MM Cobb tune is a nice start. It'll allow the little bolt ons. Exhaust, intake, etc to get the "best" power increase for yourself.

The only mod i know you cannot do is the short shifter for the automatic.

The Accessport is available for ALL 2004-2008 RX8's MT or AT.
I have a 2005 AT and it has about 200WHP. (Yes folks) I run the ZEX Nitrous kit with a 75 shot. (I do not recommend this high of a shot with out MAJOR tuning).
I would suggest an AEM/Mazdaspeed intake and your choice of cat back exhaust. Also a mid-pipe (catless).
Also the BHR ignition kit.
If you want to go turbo of supercharged they are available too.

If you are on a budget go with a Panel filter(many companies) and stock airbox mod in the DIY, Cobb Accessport from Mazdamaniac(free tune) and the up and coming BHR midpipe which will sound very nice with the stock exhaust unlike most single or non resonated raspy *** midpipes.

What about the paddle shifter? Im looking for ferrari type performance, would it be a good idea to swap to the 6 spd auto in the newer models? Would this be a difficult swap?

cant be done unless you swap out your current engine(4 port) with a six port engine in the newer automatic rx8.

Yeah, all jokes aside. I've spent quite alot in terms of bolt ons and this car just doesn't get much faster. The RX8 is tuned so well out of the factory, that CAI and exhausts only net you about 5-10 rwhp. The only way to go is FI (Turbo, Hymee's 'blower), even then you'll be a long way off what a supercar can do. Just mod and enjoy!

well im just speaking terms of the sky is the limit, turbo, nitrous, meth injection, may all be in store for the car. I just want to know if there are any parts like a shift kit, or a better paddle shift that I could get to increase its existing performance with a 0-60 somewhere around the standard rx8.

if the sky is the limit then you need to talk to the Speedsource guys that race the RX8 on GT. They got a kickass RX8 but its completely revamped, think they use the 3 rotor engine and im pretty sure they dont have paddle shifter since its manual tranny.

Xeak:I think they drop a 13b in there

but to get it to "Ferrari" you might need to be very very wealthy..
