hi guys. need some help.
i just got an 07 rx8 automatic it was a very good deal couldent pass on it.
hawever i would like to swap the trany to manual. first of all would it work?
and any ideas haw much it would cost me?

 

Just trade it back in for a Manual.. It will cost you a lot

 

a grand, minimum. probably more like $2k, up to $3k if you go with new parts. honestly, if you got a great deal on it. sell it at a higher cost and then buy a MT. or suck it up and live with the AT.

you will need:

a mechanic willing to custom install a clutch pedal in your car.
a manual tranny
clutch, flywheel
a manaul tranny PCM (computer)
shift ****

optional
manual tranny steering wheel
manual tranny gauge cluster

 

dont forget the counter balance weight for the eccentric shaft, dif master brake cylinder reserviour the lines for the hydro clutch. oh and the special one off mazda torque whrench for the 328 pound foot of torque needed on the flywheel nut. (yes a SINGLE nut holds on the flywheel) different driveshaft (manuals have a carbon fiber shaft) might want to change out your rear end gears as well alot of the AT's have longer (i have 4.78) list is pretty darn long

I JUST replaced my manual tranny and it was 5G.......MUCH better to just ask a grand or 2 more than what you paid and buy a manual, anyways they should only book out for a tad more than the autotragic.

 

It would cost you more to preform the swap then it would to buy an 09 MT with 0 miles on it.

 

trade it in. Dont bother with the swap.

its an 07 sport with appearance package ,there wore only 200 miles on it.
i paid 20 grand out the door .
