California drivers melt in the rain just like the wicked witch.

I was greeted by this scene this morning when picking up my breakfast on the way to work. To the left is a small hill thats a 35mph zone. Dumbass on left came down the hill in the pouring rain, lost control of his car and bowled over a traffic light. I don't think he was trying to make a right onto the street the photo was taken from, his wheels aren't cranked to the side. I think he came up on the red light at 45 mph or so, slammed on his brakes and hydroplaned.

California drivers. Rain means much longer stopping distances. Please pound this into your head with a brick.

Wet roads do make it easier to learn car control, but this is really not the best way to practice.

You can see the traffic island that the light post used to be standing on underneath the car.

Me too, but without intonation my wit frequently falls flat on its face

There were a TON of accidents on the highways this morning, including a 6 car pileup on 580, and other accidents at damn near every single highway interchange.

It's a good thing you guys don't get ice, snow or sleet. The streets would be a kill zone.
I like seeing video of (insert SE US City here) when they get "bad" weather.

I've seen some pretty crazy stuff back in Boston, but everyone who drives in the winter in MA is like a 3rd generation MA driver and it's built right into their genetic code. The new transplants for the year always end up on the local police blotter when they need their AWD urban assault vehicle pulled out of a ditch after the first snow.

It's nothing like the insanity in california though. You've got people doing 35 in the left lane because they don't have windshield wipers at all, and you've got guys in the right lane trying to do 85 who are tailgating everyone.

Madness.

It's a known fact. Precipitation lubricates ear canals for faster expulsion of brain matter.

it's like a memory game... you park, someone covers all of them and you have to try to figure out which one is yours from memory! I would hate trying to find my car in a situation like that.
