Mazdaspeed 3 fighter if FWD.
If AWD, probably Mazdaspeed 3 beater.

It is unfortunate they plan to build the Scirocco R with the same engine but will not come with AWD.

Nice. If offered, I would get a Sirocco with this drivetrain no questions asked.

It'll either be a porker or priced way above its class, like the JCW mini.

Yup. Fun little car.

And the problem with someone here going FI just to keep up is that these guys go uber-FI.

That's a 450+whp R32 that is tuned down from almost 600whp so the guy doesn't kill himself.

Very very nice. I've always preferred the turbo 4-banger Golfs to the V6. The V6 cars are just WAY too front heavy and plow like hell through the turns. VW reliability is still a concern though.

We'll see if VW's legendary unreliability is present in the R20.

Oh wait, I'm sorry, I forgot! That's "character".

Interested to see how it stacks up against the new WRX. AWD at 270 hp should put it a lil bit ahead of the MS3 i would expect, but only time and testing will tell. Great idea though, and being a VW i dont see it being too expensive. Cool little car

yeah too bad VW's are expensive where im from. But yeah it looks like a nice competitor and I absolutely LOVE how it looks on the outside. I cross shopped the GTI along with others when I bought the RX8 so I have always been a fan but I disliked the last GTI because it had no LSD and FWD without LSD is even more of a failure than FWD with LSD. The new generation does have LSD for the FWD versions also so lets hope they do well.
