i was driving peacefully a few days back when i saw a red wald golf gti tailed my back (about 5 feet away). i dropped my gear and went 3rd, and headed towards the CIMB turn near damansara heights (malaysians would know this infamous turn..). i think i was doing about 100km during the turn, felt a little skidding but the car managed well. when i completed the turn....the golf was like 2 cars away!!! hahahahah! i must say it's fast, but when it comes to bents and turns, man, that car is nowhere near.

anybody out there raced the wald golf gti yet?

 

the car's handlin is very neutral,nt much bias.
bein neutral in ur case,it coms dn alot on the driver's 'abilities'.frankly,the Vdub hatch is quite a gd handler 2

yeah, i gotta agree the VW is quite a good handler as well, i wouldn't mind giving it a test drive one of these days...but here in malaysia, it's way over priced...

no lennon, i don't know about sean, but i hardly race the car. it's just one of those few moments when u feel that you gotta teach these kids a lesson about driving...especially when you're in a RX8!

But dun think our 8 is tat fabulous! if u got a 911, evo or wrx...behind you will know is nothing great!

r32's aren't too bad........their 1/4 mile are faster than ours. (like low 14's)

they have their awd system from an audi don't they?

 

I think it does, and I believe Audi's quattro is an all open differential system which is tres ghey.

i really don't know how it happened...i know i shouldnt be talking about this...but it happened on the freeway, he pulled hard. It had to be modded...from the looks of it outside it looked like it was a industry car. It was silver slammed with body kit, 18 inch polished wheels and had a roll cage inside...those industry cars are always full of goodies...well they get it for free!...all in all i did put up a good fight...

hey guys, the VW GTi that tailed me is NOT an R32. it's the newer version, which isn't the VR6 that the R32 is based on. i don't think the new Golf Gti is available in the States yet...

I thought its illegal to put roll cage in Singapore... or are u in Malaysia?

I have a friend in Singapore with a severely modded 325, he took out the back seat, he told me even thats illegal. So what does he say when the cops pull him over? Well, the back seat is being washed... or he had a dog and need that empty carpeted area behind.

 

Actually Malaysia's Law doesnt permit any modifications like Singapore did. Just that we didnt practice it. :p

 

Me have no quarrel with u, but to set the record straight - u can write to SG TP for approval to install roll cage. Me got approval for me previous ride. Not that difficult! :D

As for rear seats - me never heard of that one. But in me previous ride, me removed me rear seats and put in two HUGE speakers. Ah - me miss those days of heavy base! :p Had to tone it down at road blocks though!

 

errr chaps...the topic here's about the VW vs RX8, not about roll cages...
