My poor baby...
Well, I took some leave to head back to TX to visit my family in the middle of Jan, I had planned to leave out on this past Thrus.
Well, I decided to leave my parents place late at night to beat most of traffic for the long trip ahead...well, my trip ended very abruptly! I was ahead of about 8-9 cars leaving some town about 3hrs away from where I started and was passing over a couple low rise bridges and noticed something moving around by the guardrail to my right. I started to slow down (60 mph) and BAM...from the other side of the highway something darted out into my path.
Needless to say my entire front end is toast along with my radiator, a/c condenser, driver side oil cooler and the under shield/driver side fender liner. Come to find out from a passer-by that stopped to help, I hit a wild pig! Yep, a f'ing pig! I'm alright, and the airbags didn't deploy so, that's a good thing. I took a good look at the under side with a floor jack I borrowed from the shop...surprisingly there is no damage, other than scraps and pig guts, past the lower radiator mounts. So, now my car is at the Mazda dealership in Waco, TX awaiting a claims adjuster to take a look at it and I now have to find a way back to NC and figure out a way to get my car back to NC once repairs are complete. I'd rent a car to get back but all the rental places want a huge deposit since it is gonna be a one-way transfer. And then the ones that don't want a deposit want me to pay 50 cents a mile...that's like 800 bucks! Also, the insurance won't cover a one-way transfer expense for a rental car.
So, yeah...good **** all around. It's a good thing I have about 20 days of leave left. So, here are a few pics once I got back to the dealership the next day. On the last pic if you look close at the wheel, you can see all the oil that drained out of the oil cooler. Also, the radiator suffered a severe puncture and lost all the coolant out of the motor. I shut the motor off within a few seconds of the initial hit.
I've run some rough number on atleast the parts I know are gonna need to be replaced and came up with $3100, minus labor.

damn, that looks pretty violent. Glad you're ok and have some time to find a way back.
As for getting your car back it would probably be cheapest to get a family member or friend to drive it for you then pay for their plane ticket home.
On the plus side, free bacon!

^That's the problem, I don't have any time to spare. I was only allowed to extend my leave for a couple days. I fly back tomorrow after the adjuster stops by. I will probably just fly back down myself and drive it back. I get a cheaper flight with my military discount.
Another thing that sucks, is that this accident couldn't have happened closer to home. I could have pocketed most of the claim money because we have all these stock parts at the shop that I could have gotten for damn near free. That's my luck...

Wild Pig on Sauerkraut Ingredients 42 1/3 oz Pork shoulder,wild or tame Rolled and tied up. 2 Bayleaves 6 Juniperberries, whole 1 3/4 oz Butter 2 Apples 1 c Wine, white 6 sl Canadian bacon 4 Juniperberries, smashed 1 3/4 oz Crisco 2 3/16 lb Sauerkraut Salt & Pepper to taste Instructions for Wild Pig on Sauerkraut 1. Melt butter and fry pork on all sides in it. 2. Add the salt, pepper and smashed juniperberries. 3. Heat oven to 225 C and bake the pork for 1/2 hour long, basting it with its juices a couple of times. 4. Heat the crisco in a pot and saute the sauerkraut shortly in it. 5. Add bayleaves, juniperberries, the grated apples and the wine. 6. Let simmer, on medium heat, for 30 minutes. 7. Put the pork on top of the sauerkraut and pour the juices allover it. 8.
