Need help deciding caliper color...

Since already quite a few of you have painted your calipers already, I am trying to make a decision on the color for mine and would like some opinions here...

My 8 is Sunlight Silver and I will be putting silver Volk SF Challenge wheels on it soon...see attachment:

I was thinking maybe silver or black G2 paint but painting them silver might be to much SILVER...

Please help...

Thanks!

How about a contrasting color, like a royal blue in a powder finish?

Xero,
I'm in the same boat. I have a Sunlight Silver 8, and want to paint the calipers. I also am between the silver G2 or black.

I believe I will go black because there is no chance it will look like every other accord or civic with painted calipers. I want a clean look but don't want to make them too bright. The sooty nature of our brakes will surely adhere to the painted calipers and make them look dirty. I would however still like to see a silver painted stock caliper......before I buy the black.

Another member Irish in a RX8 (I believe it was him) photo shopped the "rX8" logo on the caliper itself as a possible mod. I think a Black G2 painted stock caliper WITH a silver "RX8" logo painted on it will look very nice, clean, but not ricey.

yeah...that's what I thought also...

I have made the stencil for the RX-8 logo out of some 3mm plastic, same crap they make stencils for school kids(wife's a 2nd grade teacher..so i raid her supplies), anyway,...the first one didn't turn out so great as i had the dremel speed to slow and it shredded the plastic...i will be cutting it out tonight...

there was a thread somewhere asking for logo's and the one i used was the RX-8 in white on a red background...i superimposed it onto the plastic after printing it on those clear sheets for overhead projectors...

I was thinking of trying blue as huhsler suggested but more of a dark navy metallic blue...but I can't find a manufacturer of this color...so back to the dilemma again...i will post pics as soon as I begin...i just have to figure out a FREAKIN COLOR!!

I plan to use a stencil also.....great idea with the school supplies!

How do you intend on applying the paint? Will you be buying seperate G2 paint just for the logo's?

yeh..looks like Irish has the idea...I actually was going to use my touch up paint from Mazda to use for the actual logo...i'm running a test spot on the bare caliper to see how the heat effects it...so far it's been on 3 days...but I also haven't driven it any long distance although I have braked pretty hard to avoid having an 8 point buck for a hood ornament...or actually windshield decal more like it...i think the touch up paint will last after applied over the caliper paint...we'll see...i may just buy a bottle of Silver caliper paint or just some high temp silver paint to acheive this....it's a rather small area so I can't justify spending $30 on a bottle of silver caliper paint, but at just the same I want to do it right the first time as well....

Good luck with the project. Xero, you might find that the touchup paint will eventually 'run' due to the high temps. I found some good but cheap high temp paint at pep boys. It seemed perhaps a waste, but I figured that applying the logo would probably take just as long as painting the caliper,, so decent paint woul d last longer. In anyways, let me know if you go ahead with the touch-up paint. :-)

Used G2 paint for the actual caliper.

I look forward to see all the photos.
