So does everyone here change their oil every 4 months?

Just looking over the manual and it states that Canadians should change their oil every 4 months/ 8,000 km or whichever comes first.
Just wondering if I ever needed an engine core warranted, would not following the time interval (4 months) be cause of a voided warranty?

I think that would be unlikely to be a problem if you are following the mileage interval......If you don't drive the car much you might want to change the oil more often than the mileage would dictate...but that wouldn't likely cause problems with the warranty
i change my oil around every 3500km...but i put a bit of mileage on my car...well not so much in the winter. The reason you are suposed to change your oil at least every 4 months if you arent putting enough mileage on your car is because the additives in the oil will seperate out...basically the oil breaks down over time. it should takes a long time break down though. IMO, the main reason for the auto makers recommending an intervel like this is for people that always use their car for short trips. basically, if you are just running to the store and back once a week in your car, thats really hard on the oil (among other things) and it gets broken down really quickly. when I change the oil on a customers car that falls into this circumstance, you can smell it. it smells terrible and its normally not just black, it comes out black with a very little tinge of greenish grey in it. and let me tell you, it smells dreadful. it also seems very thin. i suspect alot of gas has mixed with the oil causing it to smell so bad and thin out because it never gets up to operating temperature so its always running rich and then shut off. this is mostly on piston engine cars...but i still feel its reason enough to keep your oil changed even in your rotary. oil changes cant be that expensive anyways...just do it every 4 months if your not meeting the mileage first and sleep easy.

I've changed the oil every 3-4 months since the car was new. (Actually, I did the first oil change at 1000km when I finished the break-in) and then 3-4 months ever since.
My highest mileage in a year has been 10,000km, and it's more like 6000km per year now. (Stored for 3-4 months for winter.)

I go through 24000km per year... I now have over 30000km already on the car. I bet you that's more than Leesha's car! Speaking of which, where the hell is she?

I've got just over 54,000 on mine, but I've owned it since July 2003, so if you do the math, it's not that much per year. I probably wouldn't have even broken 50,000 yet if it wasn't for a road trip to Mt. Tremblant a few years ago.
Anyway, the point is, yes, I do change my oil that often. I figure it's cheap insurance, and you certainly won't do any harm changing it that often.
I buy my filters in bulk every time I do a MazdaSpeed Motorsports order, since the RX8, RX7 and the Mazdaspeed Protege all take the same filter.
