Question I don't know what my wife did.....

My car will not start and all I get is a clicking sound. Battery appears to be in fine shape and I've tried the "engine flooded" procedure (twice)

No comments on why, because she doesn't have a good reason.

My wife moved my car out of the garage so my son could play some basketball while I was out of town. When she got back, there was too much snow to get the car up the driveway. I imagine there were some good rev's trying to get it in.

The car sat a few days and she gave it another go. She did remember to allow the car to warm up and managed to get it in the garage.

2 weeks later, I try to start it. Nothing but clicks. I notice the fuel gauge is WAY below E. Looks like she may have run it dry while getting it into the garage.

I've added gas, but cannot get it started. Are there any "special steps" to getting the car started after running out? Any other suggestions? I'd like to avoid being towed to a dealer.

If its clicks there is a short in the electrical system somewhere. Open the hood check the battery terminals if there loose, cracked, or not clean you will get the clicks.

Have you tried hooking up a charger to it or jumping it? A battery can appear just fine until you try to put the load of a starter on it.

Correctly diagnosed gentlemen. I had convinced myself that it was the low gas/flooding issue. I just jump started it without an issue.

Time for a new battery.................

Probably not a bad idea, but remember that this car will run down a battery quite a bit if not driven for 3 weeks. Even a healthy one. And winter temperatures add to that.

If you tend to go long periods without driving, a device such as "battery tender" will keep the battery topped off. A deep-cycle battery isn't a bad idea either.
