Because the surface finish is different!
Too much work to sand and paint multiple times.

And yes. Unless it's a PERFECT match, I'm not going to be happy. So no way in hell I'm attempting the job.

 

just buy RB gauges! i don't think there are any piano black ash tray cover!

 

Bought one a few months back on from Europe, but it's just thin plastic which you glue onto your existing lid...cost me about $60 US and came with a pair of piano black inner handle bezel covers (which you glue on as well). I guess it's a better alternative if you don't like carbon fiber.

If you all want proof it exists, I'll take pics. One more thing...there are also OEM hood dampers for the RX8 and bought those from Europe as well.

I ordered mine through a vendor on Ebay selling them from Europe. I think I bought them for $30 + $20 shipping, estimated $50 U.S. When I bought it, there was only 1 in stock. They went fairly quickly, so I was lucky to get one.

I painted mine, flyboyindy, and another members, kipkyeva. You can paint it in an afternoon. Much better than glued plastic. Here are the pics

 

Theres also piano black piece you glue on for the audio control and cruise control area on the steering wheel if you wanna go all piano black, which i guess are jdm.
