Is it possible to play normal dvds in the car...???

Mad old question probably but i tried and didnt work but maybe there is a way to do it so i figured i ask? is there a way to play normal dvds in the dvd rom slot for the nav cd? is there like an update or software maybe? that would be quite lovely if it could give me some info i know u people have some great ideas so shoot lol

Short answer: no.

Long answer: if you modify the circuits, rewire everything, buy a bunch of parts. I'm sure you could do it. But you would most definitely not want to. Just get a dvd player and hook it up to your nav LCD. Or just get a new headunit and say.. the new metra kit.

Not sure about using the nav unit but I have a dvd unit that works just fine....the screen on the stock nav is actually really clear too. Sorry I don't have a better pic. Only one on my computer at the moment.

I have a ps2 in my glove box, slim one, fits nicely, and used nav-tv to interface it to the in dash nav.

The nav-tv isn't too expensive and the ps2 works great. I even autocrossed and didn't have it skip.....haha

It's a pain to wire up though, so i would recommend having a professional do it. This is coming from the pros i had install it.
