I know that the PC 7336 seems to be the gold standard for a polisher/waxer, but what are folks thoughts/experiences with cheaper ~ $40-$75 range tools.

I've read that the concensus is that the PC is more universal and such, but I'm simlpy looking for a decent and reliable piece that can provide a nice wax job once a month or so, and an occasional polish here and there.

Any Thoughts or reccomendations?

You could go to sears and get a craftsman orbital for $25-40 bucks. They aren't good for anything besides waxing though. I bought one the other day took it back the day after and ordered a PC 8424.

 

orbital buffers are fine for waxing. polishing with it is another story because if you stay in the same spot you can mess up your paint. I use a Porter Cable 7424 for my detail jobs.

I haven't found any relatively cheap orbitals that allow for variable speed. Still haven't purchased one, and my 8 hasn't been waxed for 2 months.

 

orbital are the safest and wont burn the paint. In the other hand a ROTARY is the one that should be use only by someone that knows what he/she is doing.

A PC is a great tool for a newbie to the polishing business and is the cheaper than a Flex. its worth every penny.

Porter Cable 7424 here as well. If you are just looking to wax your car, then do it by hand. I only use the PC for removing scratches, haze, etc.

 

best place to buy a pc7424 would be where? (ie cheapest)
and which attachments to get with it? (hook and loop set)
