"cheap(er)" orbital?
I know that the PC 7336 seems to be the gold standard for a polisher/waxer, but what are folks thoughts/experiences with cheaper ~ $40-$75 range tools.
I've read that the concensus is that the PC is more universal and such, but I'm simlpy looking for a decent and reliable piece that can provide a nice wax job once a month or so, and an occasional polish here and there. Any Thoughts or reccomendations? |
Sooo, nobody has used anything but he PC?

You could go to sears and get a craftsman orbital for $25-40 bucks. They aren't good for anything besides waxing though. I bought one the other day took it back the day after and ordered a PC 8424.

orbital buffers are fine for waxing. polishing with it is another story because if you stay in the same spot you can mess up your paint. I use a Porter Cable 7424 for my detail jobs.

Looks good to me.

I haven't found any relatively cheap orbitals that allow for variable speed. Still haven't purchased one, and my 8 hasn't been waxed for 2 months.:icon_no2:

A PC is a great tool for a newbie to the polishing business and is the cheaper than a Flex. its worth every penny. |
skip the orbital.
check autopia-carcare.com (hope I'm not breaking any rules here). They have a 25% off deal. They have a pretty good package with all you'll need to polish(includes pads and differnt grades of polish). You may want to buy some wax or some acrylic stuff (i.e. Klasse AIO and Klasse SG). I prefer Klasse for ease of use. SAVEBIG25 to get 25% off (ends 10/3). you can research more at autopia.org for detailing tips. |
Porter Cable 7424 here as well. If you are just looking to wax your car, then do it by hand. I only use the PC for removing scratches, haze, etc.
