When Dealers Replace Motor Under Warrenty Do They...

Just a quick question about when the dealer decides you need to replace the engine under warrenty.

Do they replace it with a brand new one?
Do they replace it with a refurb. one?

If your 2004 warrenty expires in a year, does the warrenty on the new motor end as well then, or continues for just a year?
ps. I know the motors are extended 8 years now Just curious how that all works.

If they replace it with a new motor, is it considered a 2008/2009 motor? With all the changes (if any) to that motor (Not sure if there is a diff. between the 2004 and 2008 motors) but I know of a few TSB's such as motor mounts, so not sure if they ever did a change on the motor.

Thanks guys!

engines are refurb and once your warranty is up thats all the coverage you get no matter whether its months before the end date, from that point on its up to mazda to decide whether they want to goodwill a claim for you

04 warranty, its always whichever comes first:

Bumper to Bumper : 48 months or 50K miles(Some really early 04 has very long b2b warranty, u have to check)
Powertrain : 60 months 60K miles
New engine extended warranty : 80 months 100K miles.

The motor would be under warranty regardless. It doesn't go away between owners and such. Unless they give you a hard time about a lack of records, you shouldn't have any issues. The motor for 80k/8year and the rest of the powertrain (tranny, diff, etc.) for 60k/5year.

I recently had a reman put into my 04.

The dealer replaced everything engine, plugs, gasket, starter for nothing. It really just depends on the dealer though.

go to the best dealership around ur area. the ones that wont give you bullshit I mean. Dont EVER THINK that the place where you bought ur car from will give you better treatment. if its a good dealership, they should treat everybody the same with respect.
