So I caved too peer pressure and got the Chrome and Hot environment polish from English Custom Polish.

I have tarnished Greddy tips and some people though that this stuff was the very best stuff to get rid of the gold tarnish and the discoloration from road salt. BTW Does anyone know if the Greddy tips are chrome or just stainless steel?

Anyway, I gave it a try, some polish on the tips and soft cotton rag, then terry cloth to remove, then microfiber to buff (as per English Custom Polish's directions). I rubbed till everything turned dark and then clear again before taking the terry cloth and microfiber to it....

This is the first polish I have used that is watery..... Most polishes I have used have been a sort of paste. Is something wrong with my bottle of English? Maybe I'm using the wrong product for the job.....

 

Did It get rid of the Oxidation??? you never mentioned if it worked or not...
I know that I went to polish my RB exhaust I used Aluminum polish(not even sure if the exhaust is aluminum or stainless) but it worked pretty well, there is still slight browning but only when you get right up on it...

 

No. It's like that with mine as well. It takes very, very little to polish your tips. A bottle is pretty much good for life if you're just using it on your exhaust.

You did wear gloves, right?

Doesn't specifically say but the muffler and pipe are all steel. Don't think the tips would be any different.

 

RK. To get some strength behind the action did you remove your exhaust shrouds? On a scale of 1-10, I'm only applying a 5 for strength.

The polish did take off some of the yellow tarnish but barely made a noticable difference on the salt stains. I'll try to take some before and after pics of the tips as I haven't yet tried to polish my right tip...

The uneven polishing is causing my car to constantly push to the right...

 

I didn't. If you're comfortable removing them I'd recommend it. I've gotten a drop or two of the polish on my shrouds and it's hard to remove even if you wash it off quickly. But everytime I pop off my shrouds I've broken pins so it's not worth it for me. Not sure how many more times I've got.

With the OEM tips it wasn't a big deal at all. Little trickier with my Borla but since I'm polishing that from day 1 I don't expect to have to work it very hard.

Did you scrub the tips real good before applying? I used a spunge and a crap towel on my OEM tips when I removed ~4 years of crap from them before polishing. I think it goes a long way. I worked a lot harder with the soap&water than I did with the polish and it worked out well.

Not sure I've read anyone using it on salt stains. The polish is strong enough that it will eat away at your tips a milimeter or two a time so theoretically everything is going to be removed eventually. Mutliple applications will help but give yourself some time in between to make sure it's done doing it's dirty work.

I love this stuff. Yes, it's a little watery but no worries(grittty but watery right?). If you don't use gloves you will loose about three layers of skin in about a day or two. It takes very little to actually do the job. I have heard of really bad tips needing a couple of applications.
My RB tips(Stainless) have always been clean, but I use this product to keep them that way. I know if you have really bad tips, it could take some serious elbow grease at first. If I was doing it on really bad tips, I think I would also remove the shrouds for the first intial cleaning so I could really get in there......but I know those clips are fragile!
