what is the authentic MS front bumper made of?
I have a Mazdaspeed front bumper on my car and it's starting to chip from all my driving. I was told that it was genuine. Does Mazda make a fiberglass bumper?
Its made of Metton liquid molding(thats what it says here)-

It does have the black plastic bar. The bumper fit perfectly, it's just that it chips away from the road gravel. For a bumper that is expensive, it should not chip or crack.... If I get the bumper repainted, would a clear cover help the bumper from chipping away?
I have had a clear bra on three different bumpers. (original and two MS bumpers) It works as advertised. The plastic has taken some hits/scuffs but no chips in the bumpers. Its good stuff.
if you get a clear bra...i heard the clear bra fades after a certain amount of time is that covered once you buy a clear bra or do you have to keep paying each time to replace it?...just wondering too lazy to search since we're on the topic
There are warranties for that.
Mine's the same way, more than likely whoever painted it didn't prep it right, unless you ordered it painted. Even the most expensive kits are only as good as the prep work that went into painting and fitting them, and besides that, you're not paying for the paint on an authentic front, you're paying for precise fitment, durability, and the material used (Metton) which is unbelievably resilient, we've taken my sideskrts off and twisted them like a towel and they just spring right back into shape, I bottomed out on it and it still didn't crack, just shifted and sat on my car crooked/bent until I could get somewhere to fix it. (what an awesome day that was...ugh) You can't do that without the real deal, any other skirt would have shattered. So your comment about chipping and cracking is not true, a 100 dollar paintjob on a 1200 dollar bumper will end up looking like a 100 dollar paint job eventually, especially if you drive it every day. I'm getting mine re-shot, and I'll definitely be doing some type of clear bra next go-round.
