I just took off my winter tires and put back on the stock tires and rims. Since putting them back on the handling has been complete crap. The car reacts to EVERY little bump in the road and pulls all over the place. The ride is also very bumpy. Before winter when these tires were on the car it drove incredibly smooth and I never had these issues. Any things I can look at that might be causing this ? Ive checked all the obvious things but any info would help.

Alignment and tire pressure. The stiffer sidewalls of the OEM tire will also transmit lots more info to the steering wheel and respond to input quicker than the mush snow tires.

 

^+1...............and make sure you tightened the lug nuts to specification just for the hell of it.

 

Learned perception.

You had all summer last year to get used to those tires summer tires (with their reinforced sidewall and aggressive tread pattern). Now that you've been driving on the soft cushy winters for 4+ months, you have to get used to the summers again.

First time I drove this car after purchase I marvelled at how much feedback there was. Specifically, any rutted, bumpy road resulted in the car (tires) pulling around like crazy.

Now I'm totally used to that and never notice it. Except each spring for the first few weeks after switching off the winter set. It's worth doing an alignment after the switch every time, but it's most likely just the completely normal feeling of performance rubbers. (tee-hee - performance rubbers)
