Fresh 04 Rx-8 on the road supercharge or turbocharge

Hey everyone I was just wondering which year was the rx-8 best in or was all the years the same (basically)? And also which is better for my 04 Rx-8 manual SUPERCHARGE or TURBOCHARGE like whats the difference besides the procedures to install? Which one is better and why? Thanks.

If you just got the car and already want to go FI, it tells me that you haven't done your research. Look around and see if you're really willing to deal with the added maintenance/fragility that comes with adding FI to the 8. It is NOT a simple bolt-on power gain.

Take it back and get a WRX. That would be the easiest mod.

It depends what your intentions with the car are.

You've gotta take into consideration that turbocharge and supercharge are both big words, they have a lot of syllables which can be hard to get out when youre shithammered and need to brag about your car.
For this reason the best strategy is a massive shot of NAWWWZZ which easily rolls off the tongue in a drunk argument. 150 shot is the ideal power booster for this car and the neat thing about a rotary is as long as the nozzle is somewhere in the engine bay the spray will make it into the rotors just fine. Some rx-8 owners are even just filling their wiper fluid resevoir with NAWZ and directing the spray jets into the engine bay which seems to work fine as well. In a pinch lighter fluid works fine too.
If you have to choose between SC/TC go for the SC because it makes a cool whine sound whereas turbos are really just for drifting/showboating in the dairy queen parking lot at 3am Hope this helps

I prefer super-turbo-propulsion-charging.

Hey now, I know for a fact that my turbo makes you understeer and break traction when you're accelerating! Both awesome things for the Dairy King.

Hi and welcome. Congrats on your new purchase. People are being snooty with you because, as you can imagine, many new owners like you show up and with their first post ask exactly the same question.

I would suggest you search around on the forum first. There is a lot of information out here on both supercharge and turbo applications. Only you can decide what you want to do once you do your research.

My first recommendation is to find out if your motor has been replaced or not. Many of the '04's had their motor replaced under a warranty recall. If yours is the original motor I would bring it to a dealer and get it checked out under the recall. Otherwise you might do all this stuff to your car and then need a rebuild and be denied because of your mods.

Do you know if your engine has had the recall performed and if it is the original engine or not?
