Red Line in fifth gear

Has anyone red lined in fifth gear and if so how fast did you have to go to get there?

You'll be going fast enough to end up in jail for an equivalent number of years to the gear you are in, if you get caught.

I hit ~7,200 rpm in 5th today. Not to speed, but to watch AFRs at WOT. I only did it for a few seconds. But the acceleration is addictive.

Go by the saying "A redline a day keeps the Carbon Away!"

Like keeps the engine clean. Blows out the carbon deposits.

no, our cars tend to get carbon built up from running rich and burning oil... in the higher RPMs it can actually clean out some of this buildup.

No, dont go racing around redlining the thing in every gear. but every now and then open it up redline 1st or 2nd. wont hurt anything and it may actually help keep your motor clean
