Test drives & Break in periods
Test drives & Break in periods
Since lately I have been doing a lot of test drives, it makes me wonder.... These cars are pushed hard from the very beginning (I know I push the **** out of any car when I test drive it). How bad is this for an engine when it is supposed to be driven modestly for the first 2,000 miles? Also, is there any point in going through a break-in period with a car that has say, 200 miles on it? 200 miles is roughly 30 or more test drives. 30 or more times that someone has pushed that car harder than it should be pushed so early. Thoughts?
It's been greatly debated; the cars gets a pre-break-in at the assembly plant along as a benchmark.
Some people believe that by driving the car hard during the break-in process is better and others disagree.
