Unhappy Help me please!

Hey everyone, i would love it if i could get an explanation for this!
so im driving along until my engine gets warmed up and then at the next stop i decide to punch it..no big deal right..but my check engine light came on flashing when i did, and after about 20 seconds it stopped, it was in a cold temp, but the car was warm, does any1 know what could be wrong?

p.s. sorry for starting a new thread, i searched but could not find one about this.

Mileage and year would help too!

When was the last time you changed your spark plugs?
How about coils?

probably a misfire - as stated above, check the ignition components - coils/plugs/wires

hey guys sorry its been so long since ive replied i havnt been around a computer. anyway the car has around 29000 miles on it, its an 04 6 speed, i forgot to mention that when i hit is, it seemed to breifly lose power like it choked and then hit again, not too hard but i could tell. so what do you think, is it worth taking it in?

How long were you driving before this happened? The water temp gauge on this car is a joke, so even though the needle may have been in it's parked position about midway, the engine may not have been warmed up enough to avoid the limp mode caused by a "cold" engine. I don't know what temp the PCM reads to determine whether or not to go into limp mode, but it could be oil temp which is slower than water temp to reach "operating" temp in most cars.

I'd put my money on plugs/wires/coils, and yes, I would take it in to the dealer. At least you might be able to get some free parts out of it if it's a warranty issue.

limp mode? does that just cut power until its safe?
