How often to rotate tires on low mileage car?

All,

Just curious. I have a very short commute to work. As such, even though my 8 is 4 years old, I only have 18,700 miles on it. The commute is all back roads (curvy, hilly, and perfect for the 8).

Anyway, if the recommended time to rotate is every 5000 miles, I should only do it about once per year. Given my short trips on 'drive it hard' roads, is there any reason to rotate more often?

Thanks!
KF

I stick with 6k miles between rotations. Tire wear is regardless of time (unlike oil changes). No need to do it more frequently.

btw: I have 14K on my '05 so can empathize.

5000 is good front to rear. And then after the next 5000 miles I pull the tires off the rims and swap sides.
Call me a die hard. Oh and a rebalance at every rotation.

I have always rotated the tires every other oil change, approx. 6-7K miles on all my cars. - Jeff
