rx8 good for drifting?

ive been asking alot about the rx8 lately, but one of the main things i want to know is if the rx8 can be a good drift car, not illegal drifting, but sanctioned or on privately owned property.

I apologize if this is in the wrong place in advance, just wanna know your thoughts on it or perhaps i should look at an rx7? 350z or g35? or sumthing else RWD.

I remembered reading somewhere that one of the top Drifter's chariot is an RX-8. Like any other cars, it wasn't stock of course. YMMV.

The 8 is a great car for drifting, rwd, perfect weight distribution, extreemly torsionally ridgid, come with lsd. Drifts well, but a little more power would help

rx8 it still shall be then!

and by the way the one im probably buying is already turbo'ed (greddy) and ill probably do a greddy turbo delete first off to lay down some more ponies.

check out the mazdamanic turbo upgrade if it already has the greddy turbo kit on it.

lol dont get me wrong i love the movie but the only thing i really learned from it was that bow wow is as bad at acting as he is at rapping

Actually, it wasn't turbocharged when they dynoed it. I remember reading the figures somewhere on Mazdausa.com but it's not there anymore. It was well putting over 230whp.

that would make more sense, i would find it hard that mazda would DETUNE the rx8 for japan... more likely for them to detune it for the US lol

I dynoed my completely stock car and got 182whp. Dynoing at 191whp is actually pretty good for a stock 8 in Tokyo Drift. Man... I wish I was doing FI...

yeah im glad my target car has already got a greddy turbo kit installed, borla exhaust too but ima take off the borla and sell it for an HKS hi power single aswell as get the mazdamaniac turbo upgrade headed my way (using money from selling my old car)

lmao my friend always bragged about being able to drift his civic and i finnaly told him one day, "dude... its front wheel drive, your not drifting, your FREAKING SKIDDING!"

he got all mad but didnt boast about it anymore

well, it is drifting if he can pull it off, not FR drift though, FF drift require high speed attack with controlled on and off e brake application while countersteering and controlling ur throttle so that the front wheel don't overshoot(no drift) or not go fast enough(spin out)

granted, it is still much slower form of "drifting" since you are not pushing with the real wheel, instead you are braking with the real wheels.

oh snap touge is??? i saw a video of their skyline get roasted by an RE amemiya rx7...

but touge is good stuff in my book none the less

Yea I hear that Mazda has created a well balanced vehicle for the RX8 50/50 but you might need more power I heard, to gain greater speed I think because you have to rev even longer to gain top speed for good drifts. But overall I say yes its a good drifter.
