Loss of power?

I always allow the car to warm up for about 5 minutes or at least until the thermometer reads well off of cool....but the other day I backed it out and took off and it hit 7K and completely bogged down to maybe 5K and I kept the pedal down some and revs didnt budge....this lasted about 4 seconds and then bam revs shot up and it was normal. Really weird. This has happened twice now.
What could be causing this?

Also, I was driving one day and was only going like 40 and slowed down and downshifted to turn into a subdivision, and the car completely shut off as I'm rolling. I pushed the clutch in turned it on and bam....normal. Hasn't happened again but just concerns me.

I'm waiting for my esmeril kit to come so I am going all out on maintenance so everything (within reason) is new and wont have to worry about anything.

thanks for the help

Car stats: 04 Grand Touring, 43200 miles, B&B exhaust.

I'm no expert for sure but if you aren't having problems otherwise with power loss, my guess is rev-limiter since the engine was cold?
I also read about other people with the problem of dying when coasting in neutral but I don't remember the details. Might try searching those topics.

First problem: Well that's good I was hoping it wasnt something major. So, in the future, if I can't wait for it to fully warm up, don't get on it right away?

Second problem: I'm gettin all new plugs and wires anyway soon, so I might as well get new coils while I'm at it huh? Whats the price for them?

how many miles on the car, and what year is it? you might be under warranty.

good prices on coils from the vendors in the vendor section. onlinemazdaparts, and rosenthal mazda come to mind..

and they are about
120 bucks and are an upgraded part...

Or you could go with Mazsport coils for enhanced performance.

^^yes, don't push it until it's fully warmed up. i try to never go above 4 or 5k until it's warmed up. it'll reek havoc on the engine if you push it cold...

once the stock water temp gauge gets to midpoint it takes another 5 minutes of normal driving for the oil temp to fully warm up. So about 10-15 min after turning it on and driving 4-5K its good to go.
