My baby is back a purring like a kitten again.

After a long drive over 50km or so I was getting some noise and felt like slippage in low gears when going slow. Did not do it until I drove it a bit. Short runs did not make show any problems.

Similar to what this guy described. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/inside-wheel-spin-134849/

Since it was a used car I have no idea how the last owner treated it so I took it over to Ken at RX Motor sports today and had him check the dif and trans and change the fluids said the dif oil was pretty nasty looking.

Took her for a long spin up some pretty winding twisting and demanding roads and she is still purring like a kitten. No spin, no noise, plus it shifts a hell of a lot smoother now than it ever did.

Thanks erx8s for recommending Ken to me.

how many ks on the clock? I am starting to suspect that in hotter temps the distances between gear and transmission oil changes is to great.

OK well I track my car fairly often (3 or 4 times a year) so a little different. But I have the same K's on a Dec 04 plate car and I changed my gear and diff oil probably twicea year. Just changed diff today and it was foul.

I bought this one used so had no idea what the previous owner did with it or if they ever changed the tran and dif oil at all.
Did call the local dealer when I bought it to get a service history and they said the car had been serviced on or about the regular scheduled times.

Ken Checked it over and said everything on the car was good but the dif oil was really foul. So I think I will start getting that changed every 10 to 15K or so just to be on the safe side. He only charged $90 bucks for it, so cheap insurance as far as I am concerned.

Wink

We do mine every 25,000kms. The stuff that was in there from the factory was terrible as was the brake fluid and the free Japanese air!!!

Monte it's not hard to do yourself really, if I can do it then anyone can.

We use the same gear/diff oil as the V8 supercars....lovely stuff.

If you are willing to do it yourself you can save up to $50.....or more.

Cheers

Julia

Ps. I have a better gearbox feel and the trans is less noisy now.....I also have a wonderful brake pedal.......makes a difference not having air in the system!!!
