I have a friend in Tuscon that got his rear bumper done like this, all painted, and the fake plastic mesh replaced with real aluminum mesh. He posts on here but not much (Chamberlin is his username). I'll try to find a pic for ya.

it would probably look fine if you painted it and just left the black mesh alone. Kinda how the opening in the front looks.

This is easy to do. I am doing mine in a couple of weeks. I have a spray gun and do painting already. You just need to prep that plastic piece that you are painting perfectly... Any local area car painting supply place can guide you on how to do so...
That Picture is exactly what i am going to do with the wire mesh...

Well, you don't need to have that painted. you can just cut it out and install a mesh grill. Just wanted to show an example of what it might look like, it's the best that I could find..

It looks 100% better than the painted plastic grill. A real mesh grill will make it look even better, especially it will actually vent and release the hot air from the exhaust system.

$50 is not bad.. Are you gonna cut the rotor triangle part, too? I think you should, it will make it look good..
