The story so far...
My Girl was on Her way Home. She was at the light at the back of the pack of traffic.
Light turns green she went through the enter-section, When a guy in a SUV on her driver side changed from his lane (center lane) into her lane (far right). She slamed on the brakes, he moves back into his lane but it was to late. She went up the curb, broke the front control arm, snaped the brake line (no brakes!), bounced off the wall, went across all 3 lanes into the other side of traffic. The car came to a stop in the island on its own. As you can see in the first pic the *** of the driver side is still kinda on the other side of the road.

How fast was she going? 45. Yup my Girl dont speed, Me on the other hand, Well that a nother story.

The SUV driver? Went down the street he cut her off to go down in the first place.
Mission accomplished.

Hit and run? You bet, and if this would have been in the center of traffic, this A$$ Monkey would have killed someone. Does he care? No. If he did he would have stoped.

Do other people in this town (Las Vegas) care? Well no one stoped and they seen it. Come on people its rush hour(s) and there are over 2 million people in this town. They slowed down to look maybe cause a nother wreck from not paying attention to the road in front of them. Thats all.

The bad news:
The Car is totaled.

The good news:
I found a 2004 Winning Blue that has everything but leather seats (Thank God!) and only 21K miles. De-Badged. The kid took good care of the car. No dings no bumps no scratchs. Great shape $16,800.00 I asked the guy if they will let her go for $14K or $15K with a $1,000.00 DP. He said they can do it. Then agen you never know.
What do you guys think? Good deal?

This sucks really, but you are ok and also the damage does not look so bad. Not totaled. Off-course the repair will cost.

i dont recal what Dom's car looked like before, but that front end is seriously low... i hope its the springs and not suspension damage

OMFG! This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that makes me the most paranoid when I'm on the road. Probably didn't even know they were hitting you when they realized something was keeping them out of their cell phone lane.

Really? It doesn't look that bad.
The Wheels look untouched, which means the suspension is probably ok.
Those doors are really expensive, though.

Jeff, I got a call from my Car Ins. Co. telling me the car is totaled.
List of things that need to be replaced;
The wheels & tires on the P. side and the back driver tire is flat, The front bumper, front fender, passanger door, back passanger door, passanger mirror, back bumper, back fender that blends into the top and bottom of the car. Passnager side parst; Front control arm, brake rotor, caliper, brake line, back passanger wheel is bent into the back passanger seat and from the side its bent up!!! so the rear axle is no good.
On top of all that the car must be re-painted. Your looking at $10K+ the car is going for $15K. Not worth it for them to fix it. Just junk it and move on to the 6 speed

 

sorry to see the damage. to answer your question, if the new one checks out then i'd pick it up.

 

Doesnt surprise me that the SUV driver hauled it out of there since he was the cause of the accident. Though he'd argue he never touched her but his illegal lane change was the initial cause of everything that happened following it.

Gil I hope the rims are salvagable, and its nice that you already found a replacement car. How is the insurance handling this for you? They on your side or giving you a "Your SoL."?

 

The car Ins. Co. is on our side. This kind of thing is every where in Vegas, but with other drivers going 60+ they go into the wall not off it like my Girl did.

I have to wait for there call on Monday. Looks like I'll be calling them first thing Monday.

 

dang that sucks man sorry to see such a nice car get torn up, i feel your pain same things happened to me about a year ago, i was so pissed at the SUV driver.

 

Who cares . . . It was just a car.
Metal, glass and rubber are easy to replace.

On the lighter side... (take it with a grain of salt) dont ever let a girl touch your car again!

 

What a lot of SUV drivers don't realise is that they are twice as likely to kill someone with their vehicle as an average sized vehicle.

A 2+ tonne SUV with a square front can do some fearsome damage when handled carelessly or incompentently. All too frequently, SUV drivers are not up to scratch with the necessary standards and I think there should be additional licence restrictions on the drivers....
