D1 Irwindale, who went ?
D1 Irwindale, who went ?
I only went for the all star GP which was today at 5pm. But it wasn't too bad.
Von gitten won it by the way beating kumakubo which was alot of fun to watch. Kubo stuck right on von's *** but ended up tapping vons wheel causing a spin out which basically lost kubo the championship.
Hoping some of you guys were there since there was this aussi guy with a 20b rx7. It was the loudest engine i have EVER heard in my life. However i couldnt tell if he was just a bad driver or if he couldn't get the power to the wheels. I thought it was too much power but i checkd and it shows his 20b to only have 350hp. Some irish dude had a 850HP gto and did really well.
Kawabata was crazy as usual but lost to a Porsche 911 since the 911 was so dam slow on the hairpin causing kawabata to nudge the 911's rear.
The bad: millen's solstice blew the transmission, and yoshioka blew his engine on his 86. Hubinette had electrical problems. There for these guys didn't compete in the quarter finals when the problems occurred. Would have been awesome if they were competing as well.
Of everyone i would say kawabata had the best angles, with kubo in a close 2nd. Kubo could ride everyones *** really well, minus the von gitten incident.
Well that's my little summary. I saw 5 or so rx8's in the parking lot so i figured maybe one of them would be some one here on this forum.

5 years ago ? I doubt you were in japan back then ;].
Maybe you were lucky enough to know about option but iono.
Commercialized or not its still a great showing of the best drifters in the world, and fun to watch.

I think it was probably during the japan vs usa or D1 season finale on saturday cuz i dont remember hearing about it sunday night during the d1 allstar thingy.
The rx7s that i saw, were blown away sadly.
