Has anyone painted their stock wheels black and kept the lips silver or whatever color you want to call it?

 

Seen many of stock black rims, but not with any "lip" painted as there really is none.

 

well it isnt really a lip i know just the outter ring whatever you want to call it I wonder how it would look...

i might be planning on doing that a long with some machining to reduce the weight by at least 3 pounds each

Thats my car. I finally feel special somebody used a pic of my car other than myself. I powder coated them wet black and than I used dubbs trick with automotive pinstriping to get the red lip. Im going to paint the red center caps black this winter. I orginally was going to tape off the red on the mazda logo and paint them black over top, but that turned out very difficult. I left them red because by chance the red matched perfectly to the red lip, and I could not find a black that matched as well. Total cost was under $400.

 

im trying to find a powder coat shop in boston. did you do the red lips yourself?

 

yeah I did the lips myself, and I can tell you there are two powder coating shops in Poughkeepsie NY where I got mine done. Its a drive for you, but managable, or I bet you could ship them too.
