stock 225/45/18 tires. the guy didnt say a thing about it being tough tho.. maybe thats jsut how slow these guys are.

on the good side ... new tires a sooooo much quieter than worn out stock. doesnt sound like im sittin in a bass drum the whole time im driving.

The guys who mounted my tires (225-45-18) didn't complain and were pretty quick but they're use to doing 35 profile tires for Lamborghini and Porsche.

I also noticed how much quieter things got with the new rubber. What tire did you buy?

The place who did your tires suck ***.

I changed my tires 3 times, the longest one, which was to replace it all with new Bridgestone RE960A/S, took like 45 minutes.

its not hard

its the only time i plan to get tires changed on this car. I only have the lease for one more year, and will use snows for the winter.. so i needed tires to last 9 months.. i jsut got the cheapest ones available on tirerack ... kumhos, forget the model but were only $100 each... they are quiet since they are new, and way better ride than the worn out loud as hell RE040s.

i purchased snows with a set of rims a few years ago that i swap out myself, and a good bit of that reasoning was to avoid tire shops.

I sat in Discount tire today getting my all seasons put on - My Yokohama summer tires were TRASH.

1) they were busy 2) every 15 minutes some ******* mexican that couldnt speak english would show up and say "free air check please" so they would stop and help them (in front of all the people waiting for 2 hours) PISSED me off... to top it off - it DOES NOT take 15 minutes to check ones air and send them on the way.

Before you say I'm racist.... There was a fat ugly white bitch there on her phone handling "business", but in a VERY rude way... super loud and annoying. Would not go outside.... and she was VERY VERY UGLY and fat

By the way, im white :-p

I saw the monkeys in my high school auto shop class put 4 tires on rims in way less then an hour.

I think the person who was working the machine didn't know what they were doing.

its easy as hell with regular tires, i even did it after a forklift ran over my foot, the low profile tires are a little tighter to get on, you just have to make sure you have a strong enough machine, ours blew.

I was at my dealer for 4 hours, but they also did a 15,000 mile service, , 4-wheel alignment, replaced the driver-side sun visor, and road tested the car so that they could not hear my seat that creaks like crazy, but I do believe the tires were most of the time. I asked about them, and it sounded like doing the 45s wasn't easy.
Went to Mazda, figuring they'd at least know about the TPMS, and I got a lower installation price than it should have been since they usually charge double the labor time (2 hrs I think for RX8s), but I was given my quote before they knew what I drove.

Yeah, even in a shop that's not very well laid out, one guy should be able to do four tires on stock wheels in under an hour. TPMS only adds a couple minutes to the job to pay attention to where the sensors are and not kill them.
