Does anyone have a problem with the clearcoat flaking off there carbon fiber hood?
I have a erebuni carbon hood (racing style). A couple of months ago i saw a spot on the left side of the hood that had some bubbles under clearcoat. It has not been that big of a deal , but recently after a hard rain the clarcoat started to peel off, and ever since then it has went fron an area the size a Quarter to the size of 2 softballs. It just looks really bad. What i was wondering is...... Does the carbon fiber have a clearcoat? like the car does? I work at a body shop and have come into situations where the clear is flaking off, and in that situation i would just strip the paint off or feather edge the clear coat out and repaint it. But i have no experience with carbon fiber so i'm not sure what to do?
I had a seibon KS carbon fiber hood before this one and it started to crack. Plus a lot of people in the area had the same hood. So I sold the seibon and went with the erebuni, because i had not seen any one else with this hood. Now i wish i would have just stuck with the cracked seibon! A few small cracks looks a lot better that what i have now.
