Stock rims in winter?

Hey i went ahead and ordered some winter tires but at the moment i cant afford rims before the winter season so i have decided to just keep the stock ones on and ride them all winter, i live in manitoba canada and we get some pretty rough winters up here with lots of snow is this gonna hurt the wheel in anyway? and how much damage am i doin to the 8 driving it all threw winter should i reconsider?

The only thing I would worry about is the salt , that might eat into your rims . The only thing I would say is to get the car wash after they get done spraying the roads with salt. That white residude is not good.

If you have winter tires you should be ok . Your stock tires turn to hockey puck when it gets cold. Not good at all. I park mine on the driveway , it's not my daily driver. I just clean the rims after it's snows.

Do you have 18" wheels?
You might find that 17" wheels and tires are about the same price as 18" winters.
I've driven two winters in Ontario but I think I'll be getting a winter car soon to protect my 8. No problems with how the 8 takes on winter but I'm seeing corrosion here and there.

One of the local members picked up a set of OEM newer Mustang wheels with their OEM all season tires for a steal on ebay, that might be worth looking into, esp with the tires being basically free. Also, since they are Mustang wheels, who cares if they get chewed up.

If you keep your stock wheels waxed, they'll be fine. I can recommend WheelWax… been using it for several years. Salt, dirt, what-have-you comes off very easily, almost like magic… http://www.wheelwax.com/

(And no, I have nothing to do with the company.)

click your state on the map, it will list all the dealers for that state:

I'll be using the mazdaspeed wheels with Blizzak LM-22 or 25. I bought SPYN wheels (black) which will be my summer wheels. I don't really care how the mazdaspeed's go through the winter since I hope to get something else down the road.
