New RX8 owner here...

Hi. New to the forum and RX8s. My wife and I just bought a 2005 Shinka model with 19k miles on it...then mI started seeing all the posts about recalls and I'm freakin' out. So before I lose it, can someone clue me into the latest on this?

We got the standard warranty which covers the drivetrain (from the original date of sale in 2005) for 5 years 50K miles, which we have 3 years and about 30K left.

So, should we have been given a better warranty based on the recalls?

In their 100 pt. CPO vehicle programs- would they have addressed the recall issues?

Anyone have the info on the squeeking brakes issue?

I'm on hold with Mazda as we speak (been 20 minutes!), but I figured I'd try here.

Thanks ion advance.

BTW- I love the car, which is why this is more of a bummer- it is a blast to drive!

Grats and welcome. All recalls should have been taken care of by your dealer. Worst case, take it to your nearest Madza dealer and have them check the car. It should be free.

Good luck, and enjoy your awesome ride.

I had the squeeking brake issue and i took it back 5 times before i finally did some research on this website. Its the pads. I ended up getting softer ones and the dealer had them installed, or u could try ceramic brake pads. I havent tried the ceramic brake pads so im not sure if it works. But i don't hear anything out of the softer pads. Occasionally i will hear something but its usually when it gets wet and just once or twice.

congrats on the shinka!!
Don't worry about all the recalls and stuff you see on here, much of it is greatly exaggeratd.

If you ever encounter an 'issue' with your car, you can always see if there is a Service Bulletin for it. (save this to your favorites)

update

Well, I took the car into the dealer and it looks like it passed the vacuum test. They are putting on new brake pads and replacing the motor mounts (rough idle with AC on)

So far so good.

Found out this isn't a Shinka model, although it was advertised as such...

It's a GT model.

Thanks for all the input.
