When starting... supposed to wait?
When starting... supposed to wait?
If i turn the key to crank right away it won't start. If I wait 1 second when the dash lights come on turn the key, the car starts fine.
Any ideas before I bring it in under warranty?
Yes I did search

i know that for my previous car, it said in the manual that i'm supposed to wait 5 secs, (or till some lights come off i.e., check engine, etc.), to have the key on the ON position without cranking the engine. this is true for most acuras because the pcm needs a couple of seconds to check if everything is functioning properly. i fell into that habit with my rx8. i really don't know if the pcm for the rx8 needs a couple of seconds to do diagnostic checks, or if it does it at all, but i do it anyway.

Its not a big deal... I'll just bring it into the dealer... I'm just used to my A4 i guess...
My usual (somewhat subconscious) starting regimen:
Put the key in. Turn to run and wait to hear all of the solenoids cycle. Turn key to start and let the thing turn over 3 to 5 times where it always starts. Wait until the tach settles and/or the air pump turns off. Drive away.

It is a good practice to turn the car to ON and wait a few seconds before starting the engine. It allows the electrics to coarse through all the components. I never start right up. Even with my other cars. Never. Especially if you live in cold climates, it is recommended that you prime the ignition for a few seconds first before starting it.
With the rx-8, it's easy. Turn to ON, watch for the gauges to light up then fire up the rotary.
