Smile Today I am Buying a RX8 2004 AT with 51k miles for 16K

Greetings,

This is my first post. I have been looking at these cars for a while and wanted to find an automatic cause I suffer from back pain. I already have a Toyota 91 MR2 with a stick which I may keep for getting the stick ya ya once in a while. For an automatic the RX8 has a nice manual shift and paddle feature to make it fun to drive even as an automatic. I read all the bashing on automatics but to me this car seems to be just as fun either way.

This car has most of the goodies and add - ons that I wanted. This car is in mint condition and has been garaged the whole time. The tires are the 18" with upgraded higher end tires. I got the NAV system, Grand touring package, sport tuned suspension, red/black leather interior, sun/moon roof, tire pressure monitoring, heated seats.

Anyway, I know there are people saying to avoid the 2004 model and automatics but for the price it seems to be worth the risk. Is there any reason that I should not buy this car? What final questions or things I should check on before closing the deal. I don't want a stick and prefer the automatic and the less power thing is not an issue because I have an Mr2 with a 2.2 motor for that kind of driving. I want to have nice handling and less work driving the RX8.

Look forward to being part of the community.

Ross

Just got home with the new ride. I love the automatic!! It is a little sluggish going up a big hill but other then that I love the handling and the way the AT paddle and manual stick shift work. Now I need to figure out the all controls including the NAV system. Very happy especially for the price. I still have my MR2 if I want the stick shift action but I love not having to mess with the clutch. The car handles and brakes so well it does not require downshifting to take a corner fast.

Cheers,

Ross

congrats on the purchase, Ross. It's sluggish because the 2004 Automatics don't have a lot of power (190 hp), but if you aren't going to be racing it or don't need the power, it is still enough to live with.

Enjoy the car and welcome to the club! Any pics?

I would not by a used AT if you live in a hot state.

Make sure to buy it from a dealer or else.

Don't shut off the engine when it's cold or it may flood.

@ Husky Thanks. I am still amazed for how fast it gets going for 190HP

@ Razz I have all the maintenance records and they have maintained the car like a baby. This car is like brand new inside and out and runs great.
